Sunday Services

What to Expect
Archetype Church is a place where the Christian faith is embodied and practiced. Our Sunday services are not just a routine gathering; they are aimed at the formation of God’s people and designed to create a sacred space so that we may encounter the Risen Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Because our tradition is orthodox, ancient, and spirited, our services are joined to a long history of church practice while also remaining attuned to the lively presence of the Holy Spirit.
Order of Service
The services at Archetype Church are intentionally ordered into three parts: Welcome, Word, and Sacrament.

Each Sunday culminates at the Table of the Lord where we partake of the consecrated bread and wine, the very Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.
When you arrive, you'll receive a half sheet with our order of service, Scripture readings for the day, and any materials to be covered in the sermon. We begin with announcements and an explanation of who we are and our practices. This helps orient new visitors and reinstantiates the culture of Archetype Church to the community on a weekly basis.
The WORD portion of the service begins with the public reading of Scripture. The teaching will be based on these Scriptures. We then enter into a time of sung worship. Archetype is a prophetic and spirited community; there are no click tracks or time limits to our worship. If the Lord wants to heal or minister to his people, we give him room to do so. You will see people standing with their hands raised, face down on the floor, seated and journaling, or drawing and painting. This is a time of freedom as we worship communally. The teaching at Archetype is rooted in Scripture as it was read and understood by the early church. Sermons are theologically rich and incorporate teachings from the church fathers.
The SACRAMENT portion of service is the apex of our time together. We come to the table of the Lord for the Eucharist (Communion) every week. If you are a baptized Christian who regularly attends church, we warmly invite you to receive the Eucharist with us. For those who have not yet been baptized, please know you are still fully welcome to come forward! We invite you to join the line for Communion and receive a blessing from the Pastor. After coming up to receive the Body and Blood of Jesus, you may choose to receive prayer ministry, sit in quiet reflection, worship openly, or pray with and for your neighbor. We allow the Holy Spirit time and room. Following service, you are welcome to stay for a time of refreshments and fellowship.
